Associate Professor, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering & Chair of the Research Ethics Committee

Dr. Nelson King is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He specializes in the socio-organizational impact of information technology implementation, especially in healthcare. His current projects focus on the digital workplace as part of the Center for Supply Chain and Operations Management, including next-generation pilot training and reliability-maintainability-availability in space system operations. The Industrial Visualization Lab and Human Factors Lab were developed by Dr. King.

Dr. King obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California. Before joining academia, he spent over twenty years as a systems engineer in natural resources, space systems, and information technology. He has published in journals such as MIS Quarterly, European Journal of Information Systems, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He serves as co-editor-in-chief for Health Systems covering the areas related to information technology in healthcare. Dr. King chairs the university's Research Ethics Committee and sits on the Abu Dhabi Health Research and Technology Committee.
