Dr. Mohamed Al Hosani received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Sharjah in 2008. After that, he joined the Masdar Institute Fellowship Program in 2008 to obtain the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA, in 2010 and 2013, respectively. There, he worked on developing new techniques for islanding detection and prevention to improve the integrity and performance of distributed generations during islanding events.

In 2014, Dr. Al Hosani joined Masdar Institute of Science and Technology as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Khalifa University. He was a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, for 8 months in 2015-2016. He is the recipient of several awards including IEEE Myron Zucker Industry Applications Award 2008, National Advisory Council Research Award 2008, Sharjah Islamic Bank Research Award 2009, and Sheikh Rashid Award for Academic Excellence 2014.Dr. Al Hosani has published more than 20 scientific articles in top-tier international journals and refereed conference proceedings. He is a professional member of IEEE, and serves as a peer reviewer for several journals, including IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, Power Delivery, Sustainable Energy, Energy Conversion, Power Electronics, Industrial Electronics, and Smart Grid. His main research interests include islanding detection algorithms, distributed generation protection and control, modeling and stability analysis of microgrid and smart grid.
