Dr. Mahmoud Meribout

Dr. Mahmoud Meribout is currently an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Petroleum Institute (PI) in Abu Dhabi.

His main research interest is in the area of embedded systems for real-time applications, real-time tomography imaging, sensor systems, and non-conventional enhanced oil recovery using electrical means.

Dr. Meribout has published numerous articles in patents, renowned refereed journals and conference proceedings. He also delivered several presentations in international conferences and is the author of a few book chapters. Furthermore, he serves as a reviewer for reputable international journals in the area of embedded systems, instrumentation & sensor systems, tomography imaging, and non-conventional enhanced oil recovery.

Dr. Meribout has received a number of educational and research awards, including NTT’s (Nippon Telephone and Telegraph) best innovative award in the area of hardware design for real-time image processing, while working in NTT, the Best SPE Paper Award in the SPE UAE young professional competition, in addition to several other national awards while supervising undergraduate and graduate students..

Dr. Meribout has several years of industrial experience where he has been involved in several state of the art Research and Development projects related to embedded systems design while working with NTT cooperation (Atsugi, Japan) and NEC cooperation (Tokyo, Japan) respectively from 1995 to 2000. In 2004-2005, he was the focal point in smart fields-related research in Sultan Qaboos University (SQU, Muscat, Oman)
