Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics 

Dr. Bennell began his academic career as a Lecturer in Mathematics at Cranfield University (Royal Military College of Science) in the United Kingdom (1986 - 1998). He accepted a faculty position as Associate Professor of Mathematics at the Virginia Military Institute in the United States (1999 - 2007), and was promoted to Professor of Mathematics in 2002. This was followed by an appointment as Professor of Mathematics and Department Chair at Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates (2008 - 2013). Dr. Bennell joined Khalifa University as an Associate Professor of Mathematics in 2013 and was appointed as Interim Department Chair, Applied Mathematics & Sciences later that year. Dr. Bennell was appointed as Acting Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences when the college was formed in April 2017.

Dr. Bennell has received Distinguished Teaching Awards at the Virginia Military Institute (2001) and Zayed University (2009), and the Wilbur S. Hinman Jr. Research Award at the Virginia Military Institute (2003 & 2005).
