Jessica Allred received her Master’s in TESOL and Bilingual Education from City College within the City University of New York network. Prior to receiving her Master’s degree Jessica received a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in public relations.
Allred has worked as an English language instructor in a number of different contexts. She started teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Beijing, China, before working as a middle school English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in New York City. During her three years teaching middle school, Allred designed curriculum and taught classes of 30-45 students. She has also taught refugees in the USA and has tutored international business executives in English.
She moved to the Middle East in 2012 to join the English department at Princess Norah University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She worked there as a teacher, then a lead teacher and then was promoted to Program Leader where she managed a program with almost 100 teachers and over 3,000 students. In 2014 she joined the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi as an English lecturer. The institute became part of the Khalifa University in 2017.
Allred has an interest in curriculum development and assessment writing. She is particularly interested in developing curriculum that is designed to support students in their STEM subjects.
