I am honored to welcome you to Khalifa University College of Arts and Sciences. Our college is dedicated to providing a challenging and internationally-competitive curriculum taught by World-class academic and research faculty. Research awareness is hard-wired into our teaching at every level.
Arts and Sciences covers general humanities and business education and fundamental Science requirements for Engineering and Science majors. This is intended to lead our students to become active and lifelong learners. We aim to inspire and train committed and ethical citizens of the World who will be deeply engaged in their businesses and communities. We also aspire to produce thought-leaders and entrepreneurs for the World’s future challenges, many of which will arise at the interface between human society and technology.

The overarching purpose of the College of Arts and Sciences at Khalifa University is to work towards achieving a sustainable knowledge-based economy, as outlined in Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, by advancing the discovery of new knowledge, its dissemination and exploitation. The College aims to provide academic programs to become the pre-eminent college of arts and science in the country, developing its own distinctive areas of focus while maintaining close alignment with growing regional industries in key themes such as materials science, energy, environment, nanoscience, biotechnology and information technology.

Two 3-credit courses in Business/Economics are required for all students. For the College of Engineering, BUSS 322 cannot be used to satisfy Business/Economics requirement.
Three 3-credit courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences are required for all students. Language courses may not be used to fulfil Humanities and Social Sciences requirement. Students must take at least one course in the area of Islamic Studies and Culture. The current list of courses in this area (Islamic Studies and Culture) includes: HUMA102 Islamic Culture, HUMA111 Islamic History, HUMA112 Sciences in Islam, HUMA210 Introduction to Islamic Law, and HUMA211 Islam and Modernity. The Office of Registration keeps an updated list of the approved courses in this category.
Basic science and fundamental research have produced many of mankind’s greatest innovations, like electricity, lasers, satellites and solar energy capture.
