Abu Dhabi: A decree to set up the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR) has been issued by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Shaikh Khalifa yesterday issued a decree No 2 for 2007 on the establishment of the university, which grants bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees in engineering, science, logistics, management and health sciences.
The newly-established university will be a corporate body enjoying financial and administrative independence with full legal capacity to carry out its scientific activities and support the development process.
Under the decree, a Research and Development Centre will be set up and attached to the university. This centre will be specialized in conducting academic and applied research in cooperation with the university's various colleges.
